Support for those in Training

Training as a therapist should be a time of self discovery within a cohort of fellow students on the same pathway to developing the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to do the work. It requires trust within the group of students and containment by the tutors so that everyone feels safe enough to take risks as they learn.

With the growing emphasis on social justice and identity politics this has become difficult to create and manage. We are contacted by many students in training who struggle with conflicting feelings, and fear of consequences if they dare to speak freely.

We hope these resources are helpful.
